Tonight I'll take a break from the worldpop and worldbeat sorts of sounds I usually play, and delve into my (modest but growing) collection of jazz from around the world.
Included in the mix: the energetic, pop-jazz music of Japan's Hiromi; Indo-jazz fusion sounds like Rudresh Mahanthappa and others; the incomparable Afrobeat-jazz mastery of Hugh Masekela; exciting new Latin jazz artists like Claudia Acuna; the Euro-swing stylings of Paris Combo; straight-up jazz from Israel's Anat Cohen; and much, much more.
So come hang out with me (Carter) between 6-8:30PM SLT for our exploration of jazz around the world. You can join us in world at Madhu's Cafe Indien, or listen in on gullar sahir's main stream. Hope to see you there!
