Late last week I saw a show by the outstanding oud group Le Trio Joubran. The music of this trio of Palestinian brothers was mesmerizing, and I couldn't wait to play it for you. So, I decided, it isn't too soon for another Middle Eastern show at Monday Night World Music.
This evening's Monday Night World Music explores the sounds of the Middle East and beyond. We'll hear the music of Le Trio Joubran, plus an eclectic sampling of other sounds - chillout music from the clubs of Marrakesh and Cairo, driving pop from Lebanon and Israel, rock from Turkey and Algeria, Spanish-Arabic fusions, belly-dance music from Turkey and North Africa, lyrical vocals, and more.
