Generation X with Gabrielle: The 1993 Mix Tapes

It's the first Thursday of the month and that means it's time for Gen X with Gabi, my long-running show of music from the 1980s and 1990s when Generation X ruled Pop Culture!

This month's show is a part of the New Toulouse Fête des Lumières (Festival of Lights), which is our community's week long celebration centered on Imbolc. Most Americans have no idea what Imbolc means, but if you ask them to define Groundhog's Day, they can give you the answer immediately! The reality is that Imbolc and Groundhog's Day have the same ancient roots. February 2 is the half way point between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox, and Summer and Autumn Down Under.

The now iconic movie "Groundhog Day", starring Bill Murray, is a Generation X classic, and was released in 1993. There will be a nod to the movie during Gen X tonight, however tonight's program will about be an 18 year rewind of music, instead of a 24 hour rewind of a single day.

I was a prodigious Mix Tape creator back in the day (I am sure you are shocked), and I was especially productive in 1993. I still have those Mix Tapes. They are actually sitting in the side shelf of my desk as I type this. Therefore, tonight I will bring you selections from my actual 1993 Mix Tapes for our homage to Generation X.

Please tune in this evening on gullar sahir's Main stream from 5:30pm - 7:00pm Pacific Time to listen to the program, or if you are in Second Life, please join me at The Edison Ballroom for dancing and social time in New Toulouse Bourbon (http://slurl.com/secondlife/New%20Toulouse%20Bourbon/165/135/27), which is the new permanent location of the Gen X with Gabi show inside of Second Life.
